In salt-licked seaweed slide apparitions,                     Aquatic phantasmagoria grin,                                     Indifferent, like mute or deaf musicians,                     To their lifeless future, to their doomed kin. Reflections of white ripples pass along         The bellies of undulating briny beasts.   Bellows their timeless harrowing psalm!     The afterglow of iridescent priests,             Suspends in a static transition.                       The wraith of fish glint, wide-eyed and straining       To see dark shadows beyond their vision-                   To hear the echo of grey water draining.
